A little more about me.

I’m Rebecca, a coach and occupational therapist. I’m naturally curious, reflective and always learning something - about people, about life and about myself.
Away from work, I’m happiest walking the hills with my dog, sailing when I get the chance, or curled up with a good book. Life is also often frantically busy, and these days I seem to spend a disproportionate amount of it as taxi driver to my teenagers.
I’m learning to slow down, both in body and mind, and to notice and be grateful for the life I have, rather than always looking towards the next thing. My own experiences of change and deep loss have shaped that perspective and taught me that life doesn't always follow the course we expect.
I’ve come to recognise courage and safety as two of the values that matter most to me. They can sometimes pull in different directions - the need to feel grounded and secure, and the courage to move towards something uncertain. I'm learning that both can exist together.

When doing wasn't enough.

For a long time, much of my life was shaped by doing. I followed a path that made sense - university, clinical practice and further study. Then life became fuller. I became a parent, my priorities shifted, and my career continued to grow and change alongside me. Somewhere amongst it all, I'd lost a little sense of myself and what was important to me.
Professionally, I was becoming increasingly curious about what sat beneath the challenges people brought to me. Not just what are they struggling with?, but who is this person? What really matters to them? What gets in the way of living a life that feels genuinely their own?
Increasingly, I began to recognise the same questions in myself. I was used to looking towards something - the next qualification, opportunity or thing I thought I should achieve.
Doing came easily.
Being required something different.
My coaching training at the University of Cambridge gave me space to explore that difference. I began to notice my own patterns, understand what drives me and see myself with greater curiosity.
For me, being isn't about standing still. It's about knowing myself well enough to make more conscious choices about how I want to live. And becoming isn't about arriving at a finished version of myself - it's the ongoing process of learning, choosing and changing.
I still don't have it all figured out. I'm not sure any of us ever do. And perhaps that's part of it.
In many ways, coaching has helped me become more me.
